Overview
We Are Checking (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates we-are-checking.com. This page explains what data we collect when you visit the site, how we use it, and what choices you have.
Short version: we collect standard analytics data so we know which articles people actually read (and which ones get the engagement of a Haas press conference). We do not sell your data. We are not that kind of outfit.
Information We Collect
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit we-are-checking.com, our servers and analytics tools may automatically log:
- Your IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages visited and time spent on each
- Referring URL (where you came from)
- Device type and screen resolution
This is standard stuff — every website you visit collects some version of this.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how people use it.
Types of cookies we use:
- Essential cookies: Keep the site running properly. No way around these, like the FIA’s budget cap — non-negotiable.
- Analytics cookies: Help us see which articles get read, where traffic comes from, and how visitors navigate the site. We use Google Analytics for this.
- Advertising cookies: Used by our ad partners (including Google AdSense) to display relevant ads. These may track browsing activity across sites to serve ads that match your interests.
You can tell your browser to block all cookies or to alert you when one is set. If you block everything, some parts of the site may not work perfectly — much like a car with a broken DRS flap.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google AdSense
We display ads through Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history across the web. You can opt out of personalised ads at Google Ads Settings.
For details on how Google handles data, see Google’s Privacy & Terms.
Third-Party Links
We link to other sites regularly — F1 news sources, social media, official team pages. Once you leave we-are-checking.com, we have no control over what those sites do with your data. Their house, their rules.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to data processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe — faster than Ferrari responds to a strategy question, at least.
Children
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we will post the revised version here and update the date at the top. We will not send you 47 emails about it.
